Quinary Count Dracula

We are listening to five different audio publications of Bram Stoker's novel DRACULA.  For me the Adams / Spencer version was my audio book of gold (my Golden Tones). And since the book is in the public domain and is perennially popular, there are several versions available, I thought I would avail myself of an opportunity that may very well be unique. I will compare all these renditions head-to-head, listening to one full chapter of the novel at a time in each of these five different editions.

The versions are listed here in the order in which I am listening to them:

A Adams(f), Spencer (m) (Recorded Books 1980)
B Wise (m), Reeves (f) (BBC Audiobooks 2008)
C Whitfield(m), (Blackstone edition 1998)
D Sciarrio (m), Faulkner (f) & a Full Cast (Books in Motion 2008)
E Cumming (m), Curry (m) & cast of the major players (Audible edition 2011)

There were several other versions available but these five seemed to have the most merit.

I have already completed listening to the first six chapters. It has revealed some interesting things. One of which is the textual variants. It seems that there are at lest three different texts in use. I will compile these and submit them in a later post.

DULCET Tones

The Fictionados have undertaken listening to audio books in a big way.  We are labeling this arm of the project the Dulcet Tones. We are discovering that we are able to fit a lot more audio into our lives than reading time.
